The SEI’s mission is to advance the technologies and practices needed to acquire, develop, operate, and sustain software systems that are innovative, affordable, trustworthy, and enduring. The SEI is a federally funded research and development center (FFRDC) with distinctive competencies in software engineering and research, cybersecurity, emerging software technologies (including digital engineering and engineering AI/ML), and acquisition solutions.

The SEI’s research, systems development guidance, and analysis are objective and independent. We work with DoD, US Government Agencies, and Industry. We conduct business with all customers free from conflict of interest.
